Another day of rain so I went for a more traditional landscape shot of Prainha, "little beach". One of the more remote beaches and an excellent surf spot. This is one of the two beaches in the city of Rio that has no buildings, except for a small wooden restaurant hidden between the trees just off the left of this photo. They serve fresh fried fish, stupendously cold beer and a stunning view (see my Worth entry Restaurant at the end of the world). This is an HDR of one image.
iso: 100

oooo...very moody with the storm clouds! Such a contrast to your day 1 photo.
ReplyDeleteI like this one the best so far, the cloudy moodiness is awesome.
ReplyDeletePlus great composition, I can see your taking your time to do so!
Thats such a cool snap shot you were very lucky the way those clouds rolled in over the hill side bit of a shame the road wasn't nice and straight leading down to the beach.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha just kidding mate I'm really envious of your beaches and your skill to capture them with such brilliant composition well done. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the colours on this photo. The clouds add a real moody atmosphere. Very nicely done.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what a rainy day can bring, the clouds are very picturesque. The road leads the eye naturally down the scene, to the distant beach, great shot!
ReplyDeleteYour Restaurant at the end of the world looks fantastic it would be an awesome backdrop for a silhouette chop :)
ReplyDeleteGreat composition, the HDR works well.
ReplyDeleteNice to see even Brazil suffers odd weather :) Well, I wonder why you're doing a traditional landscape shot at 1/400 f:4 (1/400 seems strange to me, it's either 1/250 or 1/500 with all of my gear, but maybe there are different cams around). Landscapes aren't likely to run away and usually shot with a w/a, so you can easily handhold a 20mm at 1/60 which allows for a much clearer aperture of f:11 or f:16. Anyway, I'd like to be in Brazil these days and your photos just add to that desire…
ReplyDeleteWell spotted nofue, I was laughing in myself when I wrote down these numbers. It was raining so I ran out of the car, evading the occasional traffic. When I came back in the car I realised I didn't change my setting from the previous shot and hoped I didn't ruin this one (since it started raining REALLY hard). Of course I would have gone down to 1/100 to make my aperture smaller if I had not been in such a rush :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat HDR job without going too overboard. A lovely scene with nice composition, what with the curving road and all. Great clouds and it looks like a cool place. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI love the image and techniques. And the HDRI makes the picture fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBut the best thing in the job is the English traduction to the beach name: Prainha = Little Beach. (muito divertido! hehe)
Lovely photo, you can hardly see the rain.
ReplyDeleteIs it my feverish eye or is it tilted to the left just a little bit?
Nice natural hdr work, it brings out the colours and details.
