Day 4: Pepe Beach, Rio de Janeiro

I knew that whenever there would be some wind, I would go to Pepe Beach. I just didn't expect it to be rainy. Pepe was a world champion hang gliding, a local horse riding champion and one of the best surfers in the world in the 70's. Until he died in Tokio in 1991, during the world championship Free Flight. So it's no coincidence that Rio's Kite Surf Point is at the beach that has been given his name. The girl on this photo waved at me right after this shot, so I took that for a "yes, you can use my picture".

  4. I always wanted to try that :)
Nice composition which would be a little harder to do with moving around so much and she looks so relaxed too

  6. Great capture, the blue sail against the dark grey sky makes it outstanding. Looks like the weather is turning a bit rough.

  9. Fascinating! The good thing with the gloomy sky is that the kite stands out so much more as if you did a partial desat.

  11. Great composition and a well-timed shot. It's hard to get good pics of these guys cos they are so small compared to their kites, and also so far away from them. Best view is to get upwards with them and the kite close in the frame... But from the shore that's not possible. Great job you did here.

  13. Man, such a hard life you have this month. I would pretend that I’m not jealous, but I am, painfully jealous. This is a really great shot. It’s so crisp and the timing is perfect. I hope the rain lets up soon (or maybe I don’t, green eyed monster and all).

  14. This is simply stunning. The kite surfer is so tiny but I can still see her form. Really fantastic shot.
