Day 10: Reserva, Rio de Janeiro

The Reserva is a nature reservation in Rio where no buildings are allowed. So far, there is only one. I am priviledged to have it in my view from my home. So when I saw this great sunset and realized I still had no decent shot for today except maybe some of my son (and the nephew) on the beach, I ran out and took some quick shots. I wonder what you guys have to say about the crop.

  1. I love the crop...the diagonal line of the beach really draws the eye and the runner is an unexpected surprise.

  3. Just a lovely sunset and the crop is good too.
The runner ads just that touch of extra interest, very well done for a few quick shots!

  4. Another fantastic shot. I think this has become the new favourite out of all of your shots from this challenge so far. Everything about this photo is great. I really like the sand line and the glow from the sun. Definitely trophy material.

  6. Of course sunsets are considered cliché. This one is simply stunning, the silhouet of the runner leaving for the sunset is the perfect finishing touch. You were lucky to find him (maybe it's you :D , or you hired him or you had MasterGnu beamed from Sweden?).
The diagonals frame it all very well.

  8. Don't know why you were concerned about the crop. It looks great to me. Nice drawing us into the runner with the diagonals.

  9. Thanks for all your comments! My point was, there's a strong point with the runner, and another one with the sun. That leaves a large part of the photo (left and top) 'out of balance'. But I think the clouds are doing just that, and also I liked the sun in the middle. I wondered if some people would prefer the sun on the crossing of the left and top third lines, directly balancing the runner. The long cloud unbalances everything then, in my opinion.
